Paw

Paw is a great trick to teach your dog, it will help you to do the ‘Pound It’ with your dog.

Give your dog a verbal cue, this could be something simple such as ‘Paw’. If your dog puts his paw up, reward him with a treat. If your dog does not do this on the first go, that is totally fine. Give your dog a verbal cue, then bring his paw up by holding it and lifting it. Make sure that you are very careful to not hurt your dog or scare him from not wanting to do this again.

Once you have lifted your dogs paw, let go and give a verbal cue, then reward your dog. Now ask your dog with a verbal cue to ‘Paw’ if he does it then reward him with lots of praise and treats. If he doesn’t then go back to helping your dog by lifting his paw again.

Repeat this until when you ask your dog to ‘Paw’, he lifts his paw, then carefully shake it with your own hand if you want to. Make sure to reward your dog and give praise.
