Around

Equipment – Cones

This command can be used as part of an agility course, it gets your dog to run around in a circle big or small.

To start, mark a small circle with cones, make sure the cones are quite close to each other, so that your dog can learn to not go inside them and run around. You should be standing on the inside with your dogs attention from the outside. Say your command which could be something like ‘around’ or ‘circle’. Run around the edge of the circle, staying inside, whilst holding a treat in front of your dog.
If your dog follows you, give positive praise such as ‘good’. Once your dog gets the hang of this, do not hold a treat and instead use a hand signal by pointing in the direction that your dog is going.
