Teaching your dog to stay
The command stay is probably one of the most important commands for your dog to obey. This means you can walk away with your dog waiting for you from the spot he/ she is standing in until you return.
Start by having some food in your hand. Then get your dog to sit, say ‘stay’ and slowly walk backwards. Start with a small goal and try to get at least 1.5m away from your dog before walking back and rewarding them.
Remember to keep practicing and encouraging your dog.
